During the 1970s and 1980s, Piaget took the watch world by storm with vivid hardstone dials, sparking an aesthetic movement iconic of the era. Lapis lazuli, onyx, malachite… these natural gemstones were transformed into distinctive dials by Piaget’s master craftsmen, forming one of the most brilliant chapters in the brand’s history.

The Ref.9152 we present today is a marvellous piece from this golden age. Its dial is crafted from natural tiger’s eye stone, woven with layers of golden, honey and champagne streaks that flow gracefully like silk. Within its warm, luminous golden base lies a wealth of subtle lustre shifts. As light sweeps across the stone, a bright silky band glides along the grain; tilt the wrist and shadows dance across the dial, as if a stream of light has been trapped inside the mineral. This is the mesmerising chatoyancy of tiger’s eye — a breathtaking play of light.

To complement the warm, radiant character of the tiger’s eye, the Ref.9152 is conceived around gold throughout. Gilded Roman numerals, a railroad minute track and gold hands shine in harmony, framed by fine hobnail engraving along the bezel that glimmers softly under light. Gold tones of varying textures merge seamlessly with the flowing lustre of the tiger’s eye, lending the watch an opulent, elegant golden aura.
Beneath its spectacular tiger’s eye dial, the Ref.9152 carries forward Piaget’s legendary ultra-thin watchmaking heritage. It houses the renowned Cal.9P manual-wind movement, a movement only 2 mm thick that supports the solid natural tiger’s eye dial — a testament to Piaget’s mastery of ultra-thin construction and refined aesthetics in that period.
