The IWC Novecento Ref.3545 centers on the celebrated perpetual calendar system developed by master watchmaker Kurt Klaus, incorporating day, date, month, year and moon-phase indications within a compact 27 × 33 mm rectangular case—an elegant combination of historical significance and mechanical ingenuity.

The defining innovation of the Kurt Klaus perpetual calendar lies in its sophisticated synchronized mechanism. The calendar indications operate in concert through a unified mechanical system, eliminating the need for multiple individual correctors. A simple turn of the crown allows the entire calendar to be adjusted simultaneously, transforming a highly complex mechanism into an intuitive and elegant operation.

The Ref.3545's dial is equally considered in its architecture: day at 12 o'clock and date at 6, with month at 9 and moon phase at 3, while a two-digit year aperture sits between 10 and 11 o'clock.
