A glance at Breguet’s current catalogue reveals that sub-36mm pieces in the Classique collection have become increasingly rare. As most smaller Classique models were upsized during the 2010s, one long-standing reference quietly made its “last stand” — the Breguet Classique Ref. 5907.
A small seconds layout is deceptively simple, yet highly demanding in terms of proportion. The distance between the central pinion and the subdial is critical to the overall harmony of the dial. At 34.5mm, the Ref. 5907 achieves near-perfect balance, whereas its successors, with enlarged dials, often lose that refined elegance.
Introduced in 2010, the Ref. 5907 retains nearly all of Breguet’s signature elements: the coin-edge case, Breguet hands, and an intricately executed guilloché dial. The craftsmanship of the dial is exceptionally elaborate — the outer ring, hour markers, minute track, and signature cartouche are finished with circular brushing, while the central area features guilloché patterns. Notably, the guilloché differs between the main dial and subdial, creating a rich sense of depth and layering.
Twelve applied gold markers serve as the perfect finishing touch. The sheer number of refined details makes this dial a true challenge for any watchmaker, justifying the “SWISS GUILLOCHE MAIN” inscription at 6 o’clock. At 12 o’clock sits the secret signature of Abraham-Louis Breguet, originally introduced as an anti-counterfeiting measure — a tradition that remains celebrated to this day.
Powering the watch is the finely finished Breguet Cal. 511DR, a manual movement based on the Frederic Piguet Cal. 1150. It features twin barrels, delivering an impressive 95-hour power reserve. The power reserve is indicated by a blued steel hand and can also be observed from the movement side through the display caseback.
The present example, Ref. 5907G, is a particularly rare white gold version. It is preserved in excellent overall condition and fitted with its original buckle. The movement has been fully serviced by Nicky Sir, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and comes with a one-year in-house service warranty. Available in stock at our workshop — viewings are welcome.
