Chopard A “Dressed” Chopard|L.U.C 1860 Micro-Rotor Small Seconds|Full Set Ref.16/1860

Price: HKD 62,000
The Chopard L.U.C 1860 takes its name from the initials of the founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, paired with the year of the brand’s establishment—a deliberate and weighty double naming that speaks volumes about the significance of this collection.
Let us turn back to 1996. In the lingering aftermath of the Quartz Crisis, Chopard had already returned to its roots, establishing its own manufacture in Fleurier, Switzerland, and refocusing on in-house movements and the fundamentals of fine watchmaking. It was within this transformative moment that the L.U.C collection was born. Its introduction marked a decisive shift—Chopard was no longer defined solely by its celebrated jewelry heritage, but had firmly established a parallel identity rooted in mechanical excellence and refined dress watchmaking.
The L.U.C 1860 features a classic small seconds layout. Applied gold arrow markers are arranged along a circular track, naturally dividing the dial from the open center and creating subtle layers of depth. At 6 o’clock, the small seconds subdial is decorated with delicate concentric guilloché, catching light in fine, rippling reflections. The date window, also positioned at 6 o’clock, adds practicality while preserving the clean, balanced aesthetics essential to a true dress watch.
The movement of the L.U.C 1860 is equally worthy of attention. The original caliber of this line, the legendary Cal. 1.96, integrated a micro-rotor into an ultra-thin 3.3mm profile—achieving an exceptional balance between refined finishing, mechanical sophistication, and chronometric performance. However, its haute horlogerie positioning placed it beyond easy reach for many collectors.
This Ref. 16/1860 is powered by the Cal. 3.96, which carries forward the core architecture of its predecessor. The micro-rotor is seamlessly integrated within the movement, offering the convenience of automatic winding while preserving an open view of the caliber. A stacked twin-barrel system provides approximately 65 hours of power reserve, and the movement is certified by the stringent COSC chronometer standard. The Cal. 3.96 not only continues the lineage of the legendary 1.96, but also offers collectors a more approachable entry into the world of L.U.C.
This consigned L.U.C is in excellent condition and has been authenticated by our workshop.
