Introduced in 1989, the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques Ref. 92084 pays tribute to the brand’s elegant 1940s teardrop lug design, originally created using soldered lugs. Limited by the manufacturing techniques of the era, master jewellers would cast the lugs in wax molds and then solder them onto the mid-case by hand. As a result, the period spanning the 1930s to the 1960s witnessed an extraordinary richness of case shapes and artistic expression.
At the time, wax-mold case production could begin from a single piece, unlike today’s CNC-machined cases that require scale—allowing jewellers and watchmakers boundless creative freedom. This Ref. 92084 inherits that spirit beautifully.
This example features a refined two-tone dial: a creamy inner ring contrasted by a satin-brushed outer track with a silk-like texture. Paired with a small seconds layout, the watch exudes a quiet vintage charm—subtle, balanced, and deeply elegant.
